The International Journal of Birth and Parent Education is a quarterly journal focusing on policy, evidence and best practice in parent support and education from pregnancy through the very early years. Written by experts, the journal is aimed at anyone, anywhere in the world involved in the perinatal period and first years after birth. This includes childbirth and parent educators, health visitors, early years’ practitioners, children’s centre staff and midwives.
With a thought-provoking mix of scholarly articles, in-depth analysis of issues in parent education and the very early years, debate and suggestions for innovative group activities, each issue of the IJBPE focuses on a different theme. To date, these have included babies’ relationships from womb to world; educating and supporting women who have experienced birth trauma; working with new fathers, nutrition; working with parents with special needs and sleep. Articles are written by international experts and practitioners in the field of birth and parenting education.
Touch-Learn was at the launch of this informative journal and have supported it since its inauguration. Mary Nolan, Editor-in-Chief is an inspired and experienced birth and parenting educator and Angela Underdown, also on the editorial board, is a Touch-Learn Infant Massage Teacher (QIMT) who gained her qualfication in 2008.
