Massage for Babies with Special Needs:
In recent years we have delivered a number of specialist workshops and programmes for infant massage teachers working with premature babies on special care baby units. However, due to increasing demand we have now extended the programme to include neonates with special needs. We launched the new programme in June 2011 and the course was full within weeks of publishing the date!
The one day course was delivered by Anita Epple and Liz Tipping, both very experienced infant massage trainers and dedicated to improving practice. In addition Liz was able to bring her extensive knowledge and experience having been a midwife and neonatal sister for 30 years. Infant massage teachers came from far and wide, with one even venturing from South Africa.
The day was packed with practical massage practical techniques and routines for premature babies and poorly neonates and the skills for infant massage teachers to build on their new found knowledge. All in all, it was a very enjoyable and worth while day. The next workshop is booked for Friday, 23rd March 2012 in London. Here are some of the comments from those attending on the day in June 2011:
"The Special Needs Workshop was excellent and a brilliant day; it just flew by and was definitely worth the wait. I can't wait to do the Rhythm Kids course. It was a really enjoyable day. I just can't sing your praises enough; you are an excellent team providing a excellent training service. Many, many thanks."
"Thank you Anita and Liz - an inspiration!! Anita your training is always uplifting and empowers me as a Touch-Learn baby massage teacher. This course has helped me to continue my passion of promoting the benefits of positive touch with ways to adapt my classes for individual families with a baby with special needs."
"The entire course has been excellent and will be most beneficial and hopefully reach many infants and babies in South Africa, particularly those who come from socially disadvantaged communities. With my sincere thanks to you both (Liz and Anita) for your committed and professional teaching."
